Edmond Mesrobian has joined Nordstrom as its new Chief Technology Officer and our profile demonstrates why he was picked out for the role.
It's a case of 'home is where the heart is' for Edmond Mesrobian, who takes on his latest challenge as Nordstrom's CTO in his native city of Seattle.
The Emerald City - location of fashion retailer Nordstrom's global headquarters - will provide the familiar surroundings that Mesrobian didn't have during his three year stint in the United Kingdom with Tesco.
While CTO at the multinational retailer, the 57-year-old focused on strengthening the company's technological capabilities and creating innovative solutions for its customers. Under his remit, Mesrobian supported a global team while leading long-term vision, technology strategy, standards and architecture.
Previously he spearheaded operational and technical innovations as CTO of global travel company Expedia, including online travel brands, Expedia.com, Hotels.com, and Hotwire.com, while prior to that he held a similar position at Real Networks.
A graduate of the University of California, Mesrobian stayed on for his first job as a Co-Director in its Data Mining Laboratory. Other professional adventures saw him work for the Walt Disney Company and Checkout.com.
"Nordstrom is leading the charge to redefine the role technology and digital tools play in the retail environment. I'm excited to be joining a terrific team in supporting the company's continued focus in leveraging technology innovation to serve customers in new and better ways," he said in a statement.
As CTO of Nordstrom, Mesrobian will support all aspects of technology across the company. He will focus on advancing Nordstrom's suite of technology capabilities in order to best meet the evolving needs of customers.
