Alibaba opens its first UK-based data centres to accelerate firms' digital transformation efforts

Alibaba Cloud opens two data centres in London, aiming to provide framework for accelerated uptake of digital infrastructures in EMEA region

Alibaba Cloud announced on 22 October that it has opened two data centres in London, UK in addition to its facilities in Frankfurt, Germany and Dubai, UAE

The firm, in its statement announcing the new data centres, said that the move comes in response to increased demand for Alibaba Cloud services across the EMEA region and will enable firms to accelerate their uptake of digital infrastructures.

It said that the London-based centres will offer a suite of Alibaba Cloud products and services, including Elastic Computing, Storage, Database, Network, Application Services, and Big Data Analytics.

24/7 on-site support, real-time monitoring, and an SLA-guaranteed ticketing system will all be available at the UK sites.

"Our expansion into the United Kingdom, and by extension into Europe, is in direct response to the rapidly increasing demands we have seen for local facilities within the region," said Yeming Wang, general manager of Alibaba Cloud EMEA. 

"Using AI-powered and data-driven technology, our latest data centres will offer customers complete access to our wide range of cloud services from machine learning capabilities to predictive data analytics – ensuring that we continue to offer an unparalleled level of service. We are incredibly proud to take this latest step in our continued investment in EMEA."
