The partnership will see Microsoft Azure IoT applications and services integrated with VMware Pulse IoT Center and Dell Edge Gateways, providing customers with centralised management of IoT devices from the cloud.

“When businesses deploy secure intelligent edge to cloud solutions, they can take full advantage of the digital transformation opportunities IoT represents,” said Ruston Panabaker, Vice President of IoT Solutions at Microsoft.

“By delivering this integrated edge to cloud solution, Microsoft and Dell Technologies are making it easier for customers to empower their employees, optimize operations and reimagine their products, services or even business models.”

The combined platform will make it easier for customers to deploy IoT solutions by providing consistent infrastructure management and security services, enabling businesses to better harness the advanced technologies that they have invested in, such as AI.

The firms hope that this will help in scenarios such as predictive maintenance and supply chain visibility, amongst others.
