Lowe’s appoints first Chief Digital Officer


US home improvements chain Lowe’s has announced that it has hired Vikram Singh as its first Chief Digital Officer and new Senior Vice President.

Singh will report directly to Michael McDermott in his new role, the company’s Chief Customer Officer, with the aim of driving Lowe’s digital transformation across its portfolio.

“We’re making strategic investments in digital to become even faster at anticipating customer needs and providing relevant solutions leveraging technology,” said McDermott.

“Digital is the fabric of a fully integrated customer experience, from project inspiration to customer relationship management to how we present products and services and create engaging content. We’re excited to have Vikram at the helm leading the next stage of our digital journey.”

The appointment will commence 4 January 2018, with Singh currently standing as Amazon’s General Manager & Director of Rentals and Global Trade-In.

Aside from this, Singh’s previous experience includes time spent as the Group Manager of PayPal North America and the Director of Ebay Valet, in addition to earlier stints at Fujitsu and AMD.

“As chief digital officer at Lowe’s, Singh will lead the company’s digital efforts, delivering bold and innovative solutions across all customer touch points,” Lowe’s said.

“Singh will focus on enhancing operational effectiveness to better facilitate fully integrated digital initiatives across core business functions, including supply chain and marketing.”
