Leading US telecommunications company AT&T has hired Bala Subramanian as its new Chief Digital Officer (CDO).
The appointment will see Subramanian joining AT&T after a six-year period at US consumer electronics giant Best Buy where he stood as Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer of Global eCommerce and Enterprise Architecture, later becoming CDO of the firm.
“We are excited to welcome Bala Subramanian to the AT&T family as Chief Digital Officer,” AT&T EVP of Digital, Retail and Care Rasesh Patel said in a statement to GeekWire, who first reported the news.
“Bala will lead our efforts to provide a seamless omni-channel customer experience. He has a strong track record of leading digital transformations and we look forward to the value Bala and his team will deliver for our customers and employees.”
Previous to his time at Best Buy, Subramanian worked for fellow US telco T-Mobile for a period of 15 years, becoming Director of Technology Strategy and Enterprise Architecture and Vice President of Enterprise Architecture.
Subramanian joins AT&T at a critical time as the firm moves towards launching its commercial 5G network, forecast for later this year.
