Cisco, Telenor Group to partner on digital transformation and smart city technologies

Leading US technology firm Cisco has signed a new agreement with Telenor Group in the aim of driving the Norwegian firm’s digital transformation initiative.

The partnership, signed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (MWC 2018), stated that Cisco would play an active role in driving new revenue streams for Telenor Group by working to improve its operational efficiency and customer experiences.

The companies will collaborate using Cisco’s data platform to explore the use of data analytics, IoT, smart city and security solutions in pursuit of this.

“Cisco and Telenor Group are building a highly secure, IP-centric network foundation that will grow with them as they expand their business to explore new IoT services and Smart City applications,” said Peter Karlstromer, senior vice president, Global Service Provider, Cisco.

“By applying data analysis across selected app platform with Cisco’s AppDynamics, Telenor Group will have an opportunity to explore real-time view of apps’ performance to deliver better customer experiences.”

Further, Telenor Group will leverage its own existing technologies including WiFi, WAN and mobile connectivity to explore next generation smart city models, enhancing the firm’s position as a leader in the field, that will both greatly connect and digitally empower societies.
